The presence of pigment spots on the skin is something that most of us have encountered and not once. We usually start asking ourselves questions like, "Is it possible to completely remove pigment spots on the face, hands and body?" Often, the easiest and most innocuous answer we come to after a short research is the use of special pigmentation whitening creams. Many times, however, the effect of these is only partial or temporary, especially when we are talking about a large number of darker pigmentations that require more serious impact to be removed. The most effective and safest method of removing them is through the use of a laser, which within a few short treatments manages to painlessly break up the pigment in the areas and thus achieve the complete removal of pigment spots - regardless of their depth, coloration and number.
As you well know skin contains a pigment called melanin. Its role is to protect our body from the harmful radiation of UV rays. This is the reason why we tan and when we bake in the sun our skin gets darker with the amount of sunlight it has been exposed to. Melanin is produced by cells called melanocytes. Sometimes as a result of excessive sun exposure, some melanocytes begin to synthesize excessive amounts of melanin as a protective reaction. The excess pigment cannot be distributed evenly over the skin and accumulates in certain spots, which we know as pigment spots. Other cause of their appearance are also pregnancy, hormonal changes, age and certain medications.
To remove pigment spots with a laser, a specially designed laser technology is used - the so-called. Nd:YAG Q-Switched laser. The light it emits is absorbed entirely by melanin, which builds up large amounts of energy that manage to break down melanocytes (melanin-producing cells).
