Radiology, also known as diagnostic imaging, is a series of tests that take pictures or images of parts of the body. This field encompasses two areas - diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology.

In many cases, early diagnosis can save lives, including patients diagnosed with cancer. Family doctors and emergency physicians cannot effectively manage patients without imaging, which is why they rely on radiology to find the right diagnosis and treatment modality.

Diagnostic radiology uses the results of these images to detect a wide range of problems, from broken bones to heart disease to blood clots. Interventional radiology also uses imaging studies such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound to guide medical procedures.
