Andrology
When women need to see a specialist about a fertility issue they see a gynaecologist. However, the path for men is less clear. Andrology is a relatively new branch of medicine that has received more attention in the last 30 years. The object of andrology is the study, diagnosis and treatment of conditions and problems of the male reproductive organs. The word Andrology is of Greek origin (αντρας, andras - "man" and logos - "word", "science"). Andrology can be said to be the male equivalent of gynaecology, which deals with the medical problems of the female reproductive system. The focus of study by this "science of the man" are infertility, erectile dysfunction, impotence, andropause, and male contraception.
Andrologist
An andrologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of male reproductive problems and male sexual dysfunction. Andrologists are urologists who have specialized their practice closely on issues affecting fertility and sexual function in men. Since every andrologist is also a urologist, they can also advise you on bladder and urinary related problems.
Andrologist or Urologist?
Here we would like to tell more about the similarities and differences between the two types of specialists, as well as explain which one to choose in different cases.
The Urologist is a specialist who deals with the treatment and prevention of diseases of the genitourinary system in both sexes. Urologists deal with problems like kidney stones, enlarged prostate, prostate, bladder and testicular cancer, urinary infections, male infertility, incontinence etc. Urology is basically a surgical specialty that also combines the administration of medical treatments.

In addition to examining the patient's medical history, the Andrology specialist also performs a physical examination - not only the male genitalia are checked, but also the entire body. Usually, the doctor will inspect the penis and testicles with gloves, as well as their base, where blood vessels and nerve endings pass. The andrologist may also perform a prostate test.
